This event is for everyone on the forum (Not an alliance event). In this event, you will do your best to guide a fighter up through the rankings, and win the EFC title. The catch is that coaches will be limited to one style, and one style only. Only one coach will be allowed to use a certain style, and they will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
- 1 fighter allowed per coach (May open up to more depending on participation)
- All fighters must fight in the LW division.
- Fighter I.D. 1286674 and up.
- Fighters must remain 0-0 until the competition officially begins.
- SR's will not be allowed.
- No switches. EVER. This includes your secondary. Fighters must always double up on whatever their style is. (This will require us to lean on the honor system a bit. Please don't make me regret trusting you all. If the guy using 8pts happens to get a flying armbar or something, he will be thrown out of the comp.)
- First fighter to capture EFC gold wins the whole thing.
- Competition begins AM reset of Thursday, May 12th. ( NOV 2499 in game)
- Dress your competitors up people. Give them some style. No bums.
- Fighters will be HEAVILY ENCOURAGED (though not required) to follow a specific org path, which I will post as time draws near. -(LOTC--LFC--UNO--PREL--EFC)
Pick a style when you sign up, and post a guy at your convenience. Just remember they must compete as a LW, and remain 0-0. Let me know if you have any questions.
As ATTBoxer strikes down the LW champion, he suddenly sees a flash of lightning, and feels a surge of power. Little does he know that he has set into motion an irreversible chain of events. The Gathering..
The Gathering is a subconscious summoning effect which occurs in order to force Immortals together, to participate in "the Game" It is not known how exactly the Gathering begins, but the end result is always the same: Immortals feel an almost irresistible urge to seek out their own kind and issue challenges. Battling to the DEATH
Now 8 of the strongest warriors will be drawn together to battle it out until there is ONE remaining. The winner of this tournament will be dubbed "The Kurgan" and will face off against "The Highlander" ATT in a final battle for "The Prize"
ATT: As the winner of the first part of the event, you will automatically advance to face the winner of the Tournament of 8. That and you have already guaranteed yourself a Medal. It will now be up to you to determine if that medal will be for 1st or 2nd place.
[ I hope you all haven't had your fill of KUMITE because this will be an 8-man tournament to the death. We should be able to handle the tournament on the active game side, and not rely on the buggy tournament feature. The seeding of the tournament will be completely random.
Keep checking in throughout the day to see if your fighter has been called to The Gathering. (Hint: if you're in EFC or PREL, you are probably in.]
And so it was that "The Kurgan" and "The Highlander" came together to battle it out for "The Prize". I bet a lot of you thought you knew how this story would end. You've heard this tale before. But therein lies the problem my friends. That was just a story......
The Kurgan strikes the highlander down after an epic battle. All is lost. The world descends into darkness......
Ha. And I thought you suckers were gonna leave me with Slam it Out in the end. Almost got my #1 overall selection with the last pick.
Damn you guys filled up the sign-up sheet for this thing quick. I was not expecting that. Thank you. Now everyone get to posting some actual dudes, You still got 6 days to pin down the LW that is right for you.
Styles Remaining:
***Clean Sweep*** Flying Submissions Lay n Pray Mmartist Pick Your Poison Swing for the Fences Top Game Tapout Wall N Stall.
Still some good ones. Realistically, there are 5 4 spots left.... unless we get someone willing to rock MMartist or Lay n Pray.
***EDIT: Because Archi took Ippon, I'm going to tentatively slot myself in as Clean Sweep, since I don't think anyone else even runs it, and I forsee that's what I'll end up with.
BY ALL MEANS though, if someone wants to take up clean sweep, let me know, and they can have it.
When someone wins is he able to check that fighter for secondary style usage? Just curious.
He can see who sends challenges...I know when we get the text error messages when you accept a fight and then have to refresh it to see the result....breath...it lists styles in that text
Outchea actually claimed SiO already Blim. So if you are willing to change it will have to be Wall n Stall, Lay N Pray, Top Game Tapout, Flying Subs, or MMARTIST.
Right on dude.. I'll slot you in for Wall n Stall. Let me know if you need any help with the build and I'll PM you some info. Or if you've hooked back up with TLCS I'm sure they can help you out too.
In this series we will be profiling all the competitors in the Event.
It is my hope that every fighter will be featured in the spotlight, however.. fighters will be featured as they reach certain milestones, or impress me one way or the other.. To that end I give you our first competitor to stand under the Spotlight...
Hailing from the mean streets of Tijuana, Javito Guzman is a wild, and dangerous striker. Lacking in any sort of formal training, Javito makes up for his lack of technique with unpredictability, and down right ferocity. He has jumped out to an impressive lead so far, going 4-0 with three knockouts. His opponents have had a tough time weathering the storm of flying fists, and feet. If Guzman has any weaknesses, they have not been exposed yet. Taking him down will be a feather in the cap for any of our other competitors.
Well done. You and Harrier pulled a title down in the same reset it looks like. Assault Rifle already pulling down the LFC title despite losing under The Spotlight.
If anyone out there wants to contribute to their fighters own backstory, LMK via PM. Otherwise I'm going to keep going and just speculate wildly on your fighters origins, motives, lifestyle, gender identity, Fighting prowess... all the usual stuff.
Sid Nelson is an American kickboxer fighting out of Jacksonville, Florida. Born in nearby St. Augustine, Nelson was raised in a Navy family, and was all the stronger growing up because of it. He started competing on the regional kickboxing scene during college, and quickly gained a solid reputation as a gritty fighter with devastating power in his kicks (Especially known for his brutal kicks to the body). In his late twenties he began shifting his focus from pure kickboxing to MMA, and started training to round out his game. He was a bit tentative in his debut, and took a split decision loss from Leon Bouchard. Since then however he has been on a roll, winning 7 straight, and most recently winning the LFC Lightweight Title. He looks to be the first of our competitors to compete in UNO.
Chael "SMASH" Bennett Current Record: 7-1 (LFC Champ)
A stand-out wrestler at the collegiate level, Chael Bennett (Or "SMASH" as his mother lovingly calls him) is a bruiser fighting out of Spokane, Washington. Though small in stature (even for a LW), Chael packs a hearty wallop with his big left hand, and has cardio for days. He always looks for the finish, but also seems to get a sinister enjoyment out of grinding his opponents down and dominating them with his superior grappling. Recently, he has captured the LFC LW championship and defended it against rising Akido sensation, Soledad Pena. He won both title fights handily with impressive KO's.
Harry "The Chosen One" MacKenna Current Record: 10-11
Temporarily shifting the spotlight away from some of our more accomplished fighters, today we focus on one of the more interesting fighters in the middle of the pack. Most of you may recognize "The Chosen One" from his bevvy of street fights that have gone viral over the past several years. Most notably knocking out Christopher "Ball Stomper" Lewis, and "Dirty Deeds" Dominic Pascatelli. Purely a heavy handed brawler, MacKenna was met mostly with derision, and laughter when he declared his intent to become involved in MMA. Fans of the sport appeared to be right as Harry was frankly terrible in his first few fights going a paltry 1-4. Mackenna has said however that he refuses to "let fan perception define him", and has gone on from his rocky start to compile a respectable 9-7 record. He may not be the best fighter in the field, but don't let anyone ever tell you that Harry Mackenna is a one note thug.
Gesrel "PePe Le Un" De Villiers Current Record: 14-7
Today we shift our spotlight back to one of the serious contenders of the tournament, Gesrel "PePe Le Un" De Villiers. Though Gesrel was born in America, his parents (both french born) immigrated to America the year before he was born. Gesrel was a child of two worlds, and grew up speaking 3 different languages. He was, and is incredibly bright. He is in a very select group of fighter competing in MMA, that are also in pursuit of a Masters Degree.
De Villiers catches a lot of flak from male fans of the sport for his french accent, and supposed "pretty-boy" good looks. The truth is that he is extremely shy, and remarkably tentative. Ultra-passive in nature, it shines through especially in his fighting style, as he is a counter puncher if there ever was one. He's done a lot of work to round out his game, but much like his love life, he's always waiting for them to make the first move. Though he has a few KO's on his record, they are purely from skill as he possesses little power. Luckily, he is a master at out-pointing his opponents.
I feel like my guy has just about peaked winning a few matches in UNO, so I figured now would be a good time to get him out of the way. I wrote up his SPOTLIGHT, but decided it was a little bit boring. So... since his nickname is "Soul Daddy" I decided to spice it up a little bit by taking what I'd written and have google translate it into "Jive-Talk" Thus I give you....
**THE SPOTLIGHT**
Soledad "Soul Daddy" Pena Current Record: 15-12
Soledad Pena be an impressive yung grappla' fum Mexico City. Slap mah fro. Right On! Little be knode about da damn Judoka prio' t'some few years ago, when he burst on t'de regional grapplin' scene in de USA winnin' competishun afta' competishun across de Soud. Pena represented his ghetto uh Mexico in de 2500 Summa' Olympics, earnin' some Silva' Medal in Judo.
Since joinin' de MMA wo'ld, critics gotss' been quick t'bash his style. What it is, Mama. Soledad duzn't earn many fans wid his style. He likess t'snatch his opponents waaay down wid his impressive array uh trips and drows, and smoda' his way t'victo'y. Slap mah fro. Right On! An effective, if somewhut bo'in', style. What it is, Mama. Right On!
Urban dictionary definition of "Kazi" is: A man with an enourmous penis. Knows how to please women sexually. A big fan of the ladies. A love/sex god. He was so good in bed. It's because he's a Kazi.
Parvez was often the target of bullying as a child, but was known to scare of potential bullies by whipping out his manhood and chasing them off down the street. Parvez took to martial arts as he technically had three legs, which he used to his advantage. Fast Feet was his speciality as people may dodge his two feet but not see the third leg coming with such verocity [sic*]. Parvez has still yet to finish a fight, but often takes the decision by pure volume of his three legged attack.
He has recently hit the headlines, becoming the Guinness World Record holder for largest ever penis.
(As written by Matty) * verocity: a combination of velocity and ferocity?
Leon Bouchard is a French born MMA fighter, and former National Kickboxing Champion. Born and raised in Montpellier, Leon is the youngest son of Guy Bouchard, manager and head trainer of the esteemed karate academy, "Gymnase de la Main et le Pied". Truly a mixed martial artist, Leon began training in his fathers school from the time he could walk, and has attained black belts in Karate, Taekwondo, and American Kickboxing over the years. At the young age of 21, Bouchard made a life changing journey across the ocean to compete in the National American Kickboxing scene. There, he would terrorize his opponents, and attain legendary status going an incredible 41-0.
Leon made his much anticipated transition to MMA a few years later and has not disappointed his fans. He's been on a roll, cruising through the lower levels of MMA with ease. Opponents will find that Bouchard can be taken advantage of on the ground, but good luck getting him there. Bouchard is an expert at using his explosive kicks to keep his opponents FAR away from him. Recently, he has beaten former SPOTLIGHT feature, Chael "Smash" Bennet, for the PREL title. Rumor has it that the Frenchman will make his EFC debut sometime in the very near future. Fans of his have been refreshing his Wikipedia page non-stop to find out who his first opponent will be.
Awesome job captain, yeah next fight will be in efc! Will take a small lay off in order to put KB and MA to 3.5 and will be on the road to win that efc belt!
If you grew up on the east coast, and paid even the slightest attention to sports at the High School/College level, then you've definitely heard the name Walter "Ground N Pound" Kelly. An accomplished wrestler, with an impressive pedigree. Kelly won multiple championships in high school, and was an NCAA Division 1 Champion at Penn State. Though he was offered a spot in the 2500 Summer Olympics, he passed on the opportunity in order to pursue MMA.
Walter might be the most impressive competitor in our event in terms of pure graps. He is an expert at smothering his opponents. He's been cursed with the dreaded stigma of "pillow hands", but he also has a granite chin. He had never been finished until very recently when he took on UNO champion Kyle Rollins. A beastly striker with twice the experience.
Though some have speculated that Kelley has a past as a luchadore, this is untrue. Kelley has never had anything to do with Lucha Libre siting Sports Entertainment style wrestling as "Gay". The truth is that he has an EXTREMELY VULGAR tattoo across his face, and is required to wear the mask as part of various MMA media contracts.... You don't want to know what it says.
Mac Couture is a young boxer hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Though small for his size, he is built like a brick shithouse. He makes up for his lack of reach by working up close and personal. He likes to get inside his opponents reach, and punish them with devastating body blows and uppercuts. Not as flashy as some other boxers, he compensates with pure grit, and fortitude. His teammates dubbed him "The Knife" as he has to get close enough to stab you for his offense to be effective.
Recently, Couture has put together a solid 9 victories out of 10 through RFL, and UNO. Promoters have taken notice of his talents, allowing him to climb to the heights of Preliator. Critics biggest gripe against Couture has been that he has looked poor in title fights, going 0-4 throughout various levels. He's going to have to step it up in that category if he's to have any chance at being The Only One.
Awesome! Thanks for the bio, Cap. Though my guy actually hails from the miserable shite mound of Edinburgh, Scotland, I like the character you gave him.
A young boxer looking to make an impact on the world of MMA, Polands own Miko Kava possesses decent strikes in his arsenal, and gives opponents fits with his quick elusive nature. Kava's footwork is simply masterful, and watching him elude strikes is like watching a master painter or guitarist at work. Combine that with the fact that he's one of the biggest LW's in the world, and you've got yourself one hell of a physical specimen. Miko has collected gold all the way up through the minor leagues of MMA, and just recently signed to EFC. He was far from the first of our competitors to reach that level, but don't be surprised if he's the first to capture the prize.
Welp i don't have to worry about that. I'll wait to make sure before I retire my guy. Good luck everyone and thanks Capt for putting this on.
Thanks Biz, I'd appreciate that alot. Unfortunately one or two guys that are deserving might not make the final cut, but because this idea is not perfectly fail-safe. There is a small chance an alternate will be needed. (I.E.: if someone retires tonight or tomorrow) After that you may do with your fighter what you will.
The chains are off! Fighters will be allowed to switch in these final battles if they so choose. Whether or not that's a good idea will be up to them to decide.
I will endeavor to make sure everyone is aware of this.
The brackets have been set. We will allow one day to pass to give everyone some time to prepare. Challenges may be sent at the beginning of tomorrow's AM RESET: MARCH 2507.
YOU MAY NOW USE ANY STYLE YOU CHOOSE, AND ARE NO LONGER LIMITED TO JUST ONE. IT WILL BE UP TO YOU TO DECIDE IF THAT IS A GOOD IDEA. IF YOU LOSE NOW, YOU ARE DEAD, AND I ASK THAT YOU PLEASE RETIRE YOUR FIGHTER FOREVER. GOOD LUCK GENTLEMAN.
UPDATE: One match remains in the round of 8. Bouchard and Kava can try to avoid fate, but the forces of "The Gathering" are too strong to ignore for long.
It's great that ATT's got a little run going with Sid Nelson after getting shut down so many times. Although it's not too surprising. One has to face death to learn that they're immortal.
UPDATE: Mig's fighter, Gesrel De Villiers, strikes down Javito Guzman with a lethal blow, and with that one half of the tournament is set. Gesrel now travels to the nearest church to rest and prepare for the penultimate battle. It is unknown whether De Villiers is a man of God, but "The Game" cannot be fought on Holy Ground so he is safe...... for now.
UPDATE: All of our competitors have now felt the call to battle, and heads are rolling. Tomorrow we will find out who moves on to challenge mig, and win the title of "The Kurgan". When that time comes.. There Can Be Only One!
I notice that a couple of losers from yesterday are still alive....
Just a reminder that these final battles are TO THE DEATH and I'm putting my faith in you guys to RETIRE YOUR FIGHTER IF YOU LOSE
Spartan, Coach Duke, and Slymanz each retired their fighter almost immediately upon losing. It would certainly be unfair to those guys if other fighters just got to keep on living.
UPDATE: Just as Chael Bennet thinks he has Miko Kava defeated, Kava lunges forward with a last gasp of adrenaline and slashes his sword through Bennet's out-stretched arms. As "Smash" crumples to his knees in pain, he looks up catches the last glimmer of sun on steel as Kava's blade whirls around in an arc and separates Chael's head from it's shoulders. Miko Kava makes his way towards the nearest of the two remaining Immortals.....
After a night of rest, Gesrel De Villiers is drawn instinctively to a nearby ancient ruin. After exploring the ruins for only a moment he suddenly feels a chill run down his spine as the sound of heavy footsteps draw near. Gesrel draws his blade and whips around just in time to parry what would have been a killing blow. Standing before him is Miko Kava.
Both men retreat a step and then come together once again in a vicious flurry of swords. The sound of steel can be heard ringing throughout the ancient abandoned chambers of the Ruins. De Villiers dodges a blow, and makes his way up to the base of a nearby staircase. Kava rushes to meet him and the battle continues. De Villiers is fighting from the higher ground, but is on the retreat. After only a matter of seconds that feels like hours, Gesrel steps back to find that there's no more ground to give. In one final burst De Villiers hacks, and slashes and with his last gasp of strength, drives his blade through Kava's gut....
But it is not enough. Kava winces in pain but quickly retaliates and thrusts his sword through De Villiers heart. Much like Chael Bennet before him, Gesrel De Villiers falls to his knees at the top of the spire. He looks up, caught for an instant in time forever staring up at the sky, and hears the last words he will ever hear.........
Miko Kava has been declared "The Kurgan" killing all who stood before him in a gruesome manner. Only one man remains to stand in his way....
Cool event. I'd like to see it come back every year. May I suggest one thing? In keeping with the Highlander theme, how about allowing a victorious fighter the option to use the styles of his victims and the styles that his victims have absorbed from their victims?

Oh. I like that. Good Idea.
And yeah, I think about a year's time is probably a good buffer before I try and launch a surprise death match again.
