I'm under the impression that high Conditioning should enable any fighter to essentially push the pace via his method of attack through the length of a fight.
Though I wished there was kickboxing in this game when I started, and would actually still like to see it, it is really just a safer version of Muay Thai, and probably isn't necessary...
I dislike the ideas for Sumo and Capoeira a great deal.
Lay for the Fences and Stand n Bland are hilarious.
Suggestions for a Chute Boxe-esque "Stomping" style, and a Tank Abbot style, somewhat coincide with my only ambitious suggestion, that being the availability of a "Vale Tudo" style, where a fighter will seek to abuse his opponent in ways legal in Vale Tudo competition, Pride, and old UFC. The knees to the head of grounded opponents, stomping on grounded opponents, stomping on the feet, headbutts, elbows for the sake of cutting the face around the eyes, and limb attacks for the sake of harm rather than gradual submission. Given that while Jui Jitsu has been used to great effect in actual Vale Tudo, and it is not my intent to suggest it be used to a great extent in this style, the style might more accurately be called "Brawler," and yet that may give away a bit much about what skills makes it effective.
I understand that the idea has already been given a resounding "no" for the time being, but I found FistK's post on additional attributes fascinating. It seems to me that more sparring points both in maximum storage and in amount per unit of time would have to be increased to make the system feasible. Perhaps the Fighter Stats screen could display three columns, with one focusing on Technique (Wrestling, Sambo, Jui Jitsu, Judo, Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai), one on Ability (Conditioning, Strength, Coordination, Speed, Flexibility, Balance, Reflex, Power) and one on Attitude (Brawling, Clinchwork, Aggression, Composure). I know that these ideas are incomplete at best, but maybe worth consideration over time.

+ 1000 beast and really like the nick diaz style mention except remember diaz is a beast on the ground also with a black belt and great subs. So his style could fit in maybe something along the lines of mma artist if that style was more effective in the game or counter striker and even push the pace style. So when i think of nick diaz i think well rounded style. Going with this, wouldn't the idea of each fighter having a standing strategy and a ground strategy make sense? Have a bunch of different stand up strategies such as kickbox, head hunt, work the body, and maybe something for guys who aren't striking specialists like "keep range", or "back peddle." Then you also get a ground strategies like work the guard, maintain top position, stall, escape to standing etc. It might make more sense to do something like that than to invent new styles which will more than likely come to unbalance the game or make everything generic.

Unfortunately some guys DO NOT have a stand-up strategy, ala Gracies, or ground, (Cro Cop or Kongo). Edit: I know it's not totally fair to say some of these fighters do not have at all, but you understand. Look at the last Gracie that fought, the gomer. He throws punches as if his arms weigh a hundred pounds.

I'm all about "Stick and Move" a more offense oriented version of Couter Strike, ala Michael Bisbing/Forrest Griffin (and Anderson Silva to a certain extent). It would be effective against wrestling styles, but ineffective against Counter Strike.
I'm also all about "Swing for the Nuts" ala Cheik Kongo and "Be Really Big" ala Brock Lesnar.

Will LnP actually be more effective? Will someone with 4 stars of wrestling be able to actually take someone down or just get submitted and KOed all the time? Just saying..

I think the kickboxing style could be used like Shoot Boxing. Kickboxing with standing submissions would be the specialty. Shoot Boxing could also be the name, to keep it simple. Shoot boxing is a combat sport which allows kicking, punching, throwing, and standing submission. It was developed from kickboxing by Caesar Takeshi. Jens Pulver in a Shoot Boxing MatchI would LOVE to see this style in the game.
