Twice now I've accepted fights against a guy that has less than half of my stat for their chosen fighting style, I accepted and chose the same style bc why wouldn't I win? Each time I lost, a guy with like 20 bjj subbed my guy that had 60 this entire game sucks balls, how in the fuck does it even work? There's no sense of fundamental design that was thought out.

Going off the info you have provided;
Recruits have individual abilities that are assigned randomly when you recruit them. These include but are not limited to:
Submission Offence
Submission Defence

Knockout Offence.
Knockout Defence.


So even if you have a fighter who has a perfect build for the style but has bad submission defense, who faces a fighter with great offense it can negate the stats your fighter carries.
Again, i may be able to explain better if you link the fight in question.

Unfortunately, it is not as simple as you imagine.
Like SbrbnHstlr and Trite already said: there different type hiddens.

Maybe your fighter has very good stats in JJ, but his Sub Offense (Hidden) is just not good enough to beat an opponent with good Sub Defense (Hidden). Therefore, your fighter may lose.

Looking at the big picture, this game is about the management and interaction of stat builds, style match ups, and hiddens.

Again, I encourage you to read the tutorial on the main page of the game.

You HAVE to meet this guy named Chubby. You will get along famously.

Your figher has better stats. However, winner of a fight is roughly these combined, each with their own percentage weight on the fight -
Stats
Fighter weight (equal in this case)
Hiddens (goes beyond KO and subs, even if everything else the same some fighters are better than others. Lot of people cut the worst fighters in their camps and build the same long term for this reason)
Finishing
Style interraction (same in this case but we don't know the secondary styles. Fighters can switch to secondary after a lost round)
Random (there is a random roll as a factor in fights too, this is so that same fighter/stat combos do not always return same results. Randomness is not a huge factor as there are fighters who are just beasts 99% of the time, but it is a factor)

Your guy is very light for a HW, which is a factor too.

As many have already said,there are so many factors that go in to a fight outcome. Yes by looking at stats you should have won that fight there will be many more where you win and you shouldn't.Got to take the good and the bad. Just keep training your guys and learn the matchups. There are plenty of threads that go through the different hidden.

I can no longer see other fighters stats. Also my equipment has nothing in it. Any ideas why these things have gone away? I already stink in this game and taking those few things makes it even worse...

Going along like I have been on and off for the past 11 years isn't going to even out or improve my horrible 3310-4328 record. lol Any ideas?

Change your stat style setting should resolve the stat display issue after the first change. Screenshot on how to do it is here -

Equipment is still there and a factor, just a one time display bug.

On overall record improvement,

Looks like you've joined GC, they can probably help you a lot. Learn about weight cutting, cut fighters who get finished a lot in their first few, make sure builds are right and keep style advantages in mind are big starting points.

Which camp is yours? You fought the same guy twice and the results were different. Just want to make sure we are all seeing it correctly

I agree it kinda sucks there is very little help with build in the game or even on the forums.

Yet clues have been given out over the years that alliances have hoarded into their private forums, and they use to their advantage. They've also done a lot of research themselves having played the game for years too before someone jumps me.

Not everyone wants to join an alliance so you're at a real disadvantage. The clues that have been given out should be public and there should be a little more help in game.

There always people willing to help new players in fact this game has more playing willing to help than most.
Don't get why anyone would not want to be a part of an alliance yes each alliance have their quirks but mainly they are friendly helpful people.

Part of the intrigue is literally the unknown aspects of the game and people openly discuss builds and whatnot. You can literally look at what other coaches train up and what they do not. Not sure I understand the view point you have there Olir, seems like it is intentional tho.

you only need to go through the HoF and get an idea of a style. It's not 100% accurate, but nothing here is. We are all speculating
