Round 1 Couture hits a hard jab but misses with the follow up straight. Nick Shi connects with a hard punch making Couture bring him in to a tight clinch. Aleron Couture drops to a knee and attempts a takedown from the clinch. Nick sets a guillotine choke but Aleron Couture slips out at the last moment. Aleron Couture is now caught in guard. Shi moves to half guard then is able to grab a butterfly guard, eventually working to standing. Shi eats a stiff kick to the face. The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. Both fighters move in to strike but miss their marks. As they jockey for position in the clinch Shi wins the momentum battle and falls into side control on top of Aleron Couture. Round 1 is over.
Round 2 Aleron pushes away from Nick and lands a strong chopping kick to the lead leg. Couture connects with a teep to the face of Nick. Shi winds up a heavy straight but is countered by a hard counter knee to the body. Aleron Couture circles Shi, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Nick lowers his hands to block a body kick, but Aleron switches to a high kick and rattles the jaw of Nick.
Couture misses with an axe kick that has Nick Shi back up. Aleron lands a solid kick to the inside thigh of Nick Shi. Aleron Couture throws a flurry connecting with the final punch. Nick Shi is rocked and stumbles to the ground but quickly shakes it off. The fighters circle each other. Nick throws a wild punch, putting him off balance. A few well timed strikes from "Golden Boy" puts Nick on the mat giving his back up. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 "Golden Boy" hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Shi. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Nick drops to a knee and attempts a takedown from the clinch. Aleron Couture sets a guillotine choke but Nick slips out at the last moment. Nick is now caught in guard. Aleron attempts a switch from the guard, but a scramble takes place getting both fighters to their feet. Aleron keeps Nick at a distance with some well timed jabs. Aleron circles Nick, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Aleron pushes Shi into the cage after a double jab connects. Aleron begins throwing a series of jabs, crosses and shovel punches until Shi is slumped bloodied and unconscious in the corner.
