Round 1 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Alek Alexandrov works to Russ McDonalds back while standing. Alek Alexandrov throws a couple of outside shots until Russ is able to work his way back to the clinch. While tied up, Russ McDonald is met with a hard uppercut. A welt begins to form under Russs eye after a strong cross-hook landed from Alek. Russ McDonald takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. A wild hook from Russ McDonald is ducked by Alek Alexandrov who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Alexandrov attempts a takedown, but "Old" clumsily falls down without much provocation. "The Waco Kid" lays into Russs thighs with some well timed kicks while Russ McDonald is grounded. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 "Old" parries "The Waco Kids" jab and connect with a cross. A double-leg shot is stuffed initially by "The Waco Kid", but Russ McDonald is able to muscle through for a takedown. Alek Alexandrov attempts an armbar. McDonald time a spin perfectly landing a strong overhand as he works his way into "The Waco Kids" guard. McDonald distracts Alek Alexandrov with some peppering shots. McDonald then isolates a leg and falls back into a achilles lock. Alek Alexandrov is able to force his way out of it but gives up half guard in the ensuing scramble. Russ attempts to sink a neck crank from half guard. It does not appear to be tight enough as Alexandrov gives a thumbs up to the referee until he finally struggles out. Russ McDonald slips out of half guard and into side control. "The Waco Kid" gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. Alek starts to wiggle out of back control, "Old" lets him escape putting them both on their feet. "Old" arm drags "The Waco Kid" into a double leg takedown, getting half guard. Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 A wild hook from Russ McDonald is ducked by Alek Alexandrov who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. The fighters circle each other. Russ McDonald executes a single leg giving him the back of Alek Alexandrov. McDonald tries to set in a rear naked choke, but can't quite finish it. Alexandrov starts to wiggle out of back control, Russ lets him escape putting them both on their feet. A wild hook from Alexandrov is ducked by Russ McDonald who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. McDonald stuffs a shot from Alek and hits him with a hard hook to the temple and pushes him to take his guard. Round 3 is finished.
Round 4 A looping right hook from "Old" sends "The Waco Kid" to the mat. Russ McDonald drops a huge strike to Alek Alexandrovs chin, landing into his guard. Russ drops a few strong punches, opening up Alexandrovs guard, giving him a chance to pass to mount. Alek Alexandrov gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Russ McDonald peppers Alek Alexandrov with several shots to the face. Russ lands a series of heavy punches forcing Alek to roll to his back, giving Russ mount. Round 4 is over.
Round 5 Alek catches a leg kick from McDonald, and puts him on the mat. Alexandrov drops some good punches while being caught in the guard. "The Waco Kid" sits up in McDonalds open guard and spins to an leg lock. Russ McDonald is able to gator-roll out of it and make it to standing. A wild hook from Russ McDonald is ducked by Alexandrov who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Alek snaps back the head of "Old" with a stiff jab. "Old" takes a punch and goes to the mat, Alek Alexandrov pounces into side control. "Old" recovers quickly. "The Waco Kid" throws his knee into the ribs of McDonald. Alek moves to north-south position. McDonald begins to roll out from under Alek but Alek is able scramble to Russ McDonalds back. The bell signals the end of round 5.
