Carlos connects with a hard jab as Buzz attempts a wide outside hook. Ward circles Carlos Guerra, mixing jabs with body shots. Both fighters move in to strike but miss their marks. As they jockey for position in the clinch Buzz wins the momentum battle and falls into side control on top of Guerra.Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Guerra throws a powerful left hook, but is met with a strong jab from Ward. Ward lands a strong outside leg kick that is returned by Carlos Guerra. Buzz connects with 1-2 jab hook combo and quickly steps away. Guerra connects with a jab cross combination. Ward feints and follows up with a hard cross. Round 4 Guerra parries a jab but leaves himself open for a hard cross. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Buzz drops to a knee and attempts a takedown from the clinch. Carlos Guerra sets a guillotine choke but Buzz slips out at the last moment. Buzz is now caught in guard. Guerra moves to half guard then is able to grab a butterfly guard, eventually working to standing. Guerra parries a jab but leaves himself open for a hard cross. Round 5 Buzz Ward sends Guerra to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. "The Warden" drops some good punches while being caught in the guard. "The Warden" passes through Carloss guard into mount. Carlos Guerra gives his back up trying to escape the mount. "The Warden" peppers shot to the head of Guerra looking for an opening to apply a rear naked choke but Guerra is hand playing well. Carlos Guerra slips out the back leading to both fighters standing up. Ward connects with a hard punch making Carlos Guerra bring him in to a tight clinch. Carlos Guerra receieves numerous knees to the thighs from Buzz Ward. Buzz fakes a shot attempt from the clinch, opening Guerra up for a flurry of hooks. Guerra parries a jab but leaves himself open for a uppercut that sends him to the canvas. Buzz Ward stands over Carlos, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Carlos is able to grab an arm and pull Buzz Ward into his guard. Round 5 is over.
