Round 1 A wild hook from Begovic is ducked by Mitch Hayes who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Mitch throws a flurry connecting with the final punch. Begovic is rocked and stumbles to the ground but quickly shakes it off. Josip Begovic winds up a heavy straight but is countered by a hard counter knee to the body. Josip throws a wild punch, putting him off balance. A few well timed strikes from Mitch puts Josip on the mat giving his back up. Begovic tries to stand up but "King Slayer" plants him back down with several strikes. Mitch Hayes executes a double hand slap to the ears of Josip Begovic. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Josip Begovic connects with a hard punch making Mitch Hayes bring him in to a tight clinch. Josip Begovic works Hayes into the cage from the clinch. Josip Begovic presses his head under Mitch Hayess chin so he cannot defend the piston shots from either side. Josip grabs the plum and pulls Mitchs face towards a powerful knee which is blocked. Josip lets go of the hold and lands a hook. Josip Begovic circles Mitch Hayes, landing jabs and crosses at will. Josip lands a outside leg kick that causes Mitch to back up. Josip Begovic uses his jabs to set up crushing inside and outside leg kicks. Begovic catches a leg kick and fires a hard punch to the head dropping Mitch Hayes. Begovic attempts a stomp and Mitch swivels to a side to avoid it. Begovic uses his momentum to carry him into over Mitch and he sprawls into side control. Round 2 is finished.
Round 3 A shot is side stepped by Josip Begovic but quick reflexes and footwork lead to a second attempt that takes down Josip Begovic. Mitch Hayes settles into his guard. Mitch frees a leg and moves into half guard. "King Slayer" tries to pull his leg out of half guard, but no luck. Hayes presses his foot onto the thigh of Josip Begovic to get his own foot free. He successfully releases his leg and moves to side control. Mitch Hayes lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Josip Begovic tries to get back to full guard, but has to settle with half guard. Josip tries to scramble out of half guard, but Hayes takes his back during it. Hayes slides off to the side of Josip Begovic and lands several heavy knees into his ribs. Before he can lose the position, Hayes switches back to full back control. Josip tripods up, causing Hayes to fall forward. As Hayes tries to scramble up Josip lands a lunging hook, putting Hayes on the ground. Josip stands up and looks to the ref to force Hayes into standing. The ref does not comply.Round 3 comes to a close.
Round 4 Josip attempts a lazy shot, which Mitch Hayes sprawls, eventually taking Josip back. Mitch peppers Josip Begovic with several shots to the face. Josip Begovic starts to wiggle out of back control, Mitch Hayes lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Begovic shoots but Mitch stuffs it, eventually using a whizzer to work to side control. Mitch Hayes slides his knee across the body of Begovic and takes full mount. Josip attempts to buck Mitch off from mount but Mitch keeps his base and maintains position. Josip Begovic gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Round 4 comes to a close.
Round 5 Josip circles Mitch, mixing jabs with body shots. Begovic strikes with a straight front kick. Begovic parries Hayess jab and lands a liver shot that buckles "King Slayer". "King Slayer" rolls to his back with Begovic standing over him. Begovic cannot find an opening to pounce. The ref brings Mitch Hayes back to his feet. Josip parries "King Slayers" jab and connect with a cross that floors Hayes. Josip Begovic stands over Hayes, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Hayes cannot trap him in his guard and pushes him away instead. Josip kicks at the legs of Hayes and then asks him to stand up. The referee tells Hayes to stand. Josip Begovic circles Hayes, mixing jabs with body shots. Josip Begovic loses his balance from a well timed strike, and is awkwardly taken down by Mitch for the mistake. Mitch has side control. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
