Round 2 Barry Russell throws a push kick. Juan Castro shucks it and strikes with a overhand that crashes into Barrys nose.
Juan Castro hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Russell. Juan fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Barry Russell. Barry attempts a takedown from the clinch, but Juan Castro pulls a switch on him, ultimately leading to both fighters on their feet. Juan stuffs a shot from Barry and hits him with an outside body shot. Barry gives up on the takedown and pulls guard. Juan Castro takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Barrys guard. It doesn't pay off as Russell makes his way to standing. Juan Castro narrowly dodges a cross from Barry Russell, but falls catching him in his guard. Juan sets in an omaplata, forcing Russell to roll through, giving Juan side control. Barry takes a few knees to the body while under Juans side control. Barry is hit with a heavy knee to the liver and tries to scramble out of side control. Castro scrambles well and takes Barry Russells back. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 Barry Russell connects with a series of punches forcing Juan Castro into a clinch. Castro places a few punches to the ribs while tied up. A strong elbow forces Barry Russell to lose his balance and fall to the floor. Juan Castro stands over Barry Russell, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Barry Russell is able to grab an arm and pull Juan Castro into his guard. Barry gets his arm underneath the neck of Juan Castro while putting his opposite arm on the back of the head. Juan Castro powers out of the attempted choke. Barry Russell begins to posture on his side. Juan Castro lands a couple of outside hooks and Barry Russell returns to the guard. Russell keeps his head down in the chest of Castro to avoid any submission attempts. Russell leans up and lands some short punches before lowering back down. Russell moves to half guard then is able to grab a butterfly guard, eventually working to standing. Round 3 comes to a close.
Round 4 Castro connects with a jab cross combination. Russell throws a flurry connecting with the final punch. Castro is rocked and stumbles to the ground but quickly shakes it off. Castro ducks under a loopy hoop, taking Barry to the mat, and his back. Barry Russell rolls back into being mounted. Round 5 Both fighters trade shots and back away looking for the next opening. Both fighters begin to exchange Barry Russell catches Castro with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Castro gather himself. Castro says he is ok and the fight continues. Barry Russell executes a single leg giving him the back of Juan Castro. Barry Russell lands a series of heavy punches forcing Juan to roll to his back, giving Barry Russell mount.
