Round 1 Booker Thomas connects with a hard jab as Nico attempts a wide outside hook. A trip to the ground allows Booker Thomas to move into the guard of Cervantes. Nico Cervantes shifts his hips to get better position in the guard. Booker Thomas presses the action while in the guard, but Cervantes is able to switch him into mount. Cervantes secures his position. Thomas attempts to buck Nico off from mount but Nico keeps his base and maintains position. Round 1 is finished.
Round 2 The fighters circle each other. Cervantes fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing "T" to the cage. "T" swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. Booker Thomas gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. Booker defends short shots well by turning his head. Nico attempts to get a leg free and successfully moves into dominant side control. Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 Booker connects with a series of punches forcing Nico into a clinch. The fighters jockey for position in the clinch. Nico Cervantes takes Booker Thomass back standing. Booker isolates an arm to lock a spinning kimura but Nico Cervantes lands a sharp shovel punch that forces Booker to release. Nico Cervantes throws a few jabs at Booker Thomas that miss the mark. Booker Thomas presses forward and is able to jump up and grab onto Nico, aggressively pulling guard. Nico takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Booker Thomass guard. It doesn't pay off as Booker Thomas makes his way to standing. A shot catches Thomas off balance and off guard. Nico Cervantes spears him but can only manage to make it to guard. Booker Thomas pulls Nico Cervantes close and connects with a few heel strikes to the back. Two large hammerfists forces "T" to attempt to shift away from Cervantes which give Cervantes the opportunity to move to half guard. Round 3 is finished.
Round 4 Thomas eats a jab,jab, then a hook from Nico. Booker Thomas narrowly dodges a cross from Cervantes, but falls catching him in his guard. "T" works for a triangle but Nico Cervantes throws Booker Thomass straight leg over his head and makes it to half guard. "T" attempt to sit up and push into his opponent but Nico has a strong underhook and pushes back. "T" uses the momentum to sweep Nico into side control. A series of strong hammerfists forces Cervantes to try and roll toward Booker. Booker lands a devastating shovel punch that roll Cervantes to his back. Booker scrambles to his back. The bell signals the end of round 4.
Round 5 Thomas connects with a combination and backs away from the counter combo of Nico Cervantes. Booker Thomas presses forward and is able to jump up and grab onto Cervantes, aggressively pulling guard. Booker Thomas sinks a deep kimura, but Nico Cervantes slides out. This gives Booker Thomas the chance to switch to half guard. Thomas grabs an overhook and kicks his leg out to snatch an omoplata. Cervantes rolls over giving up side control. Round 5 is finished.
