Round 1 Bennett blocks a hook cross combo but is pushed backward. Ruas tries to press the action but is met with a hook, uppercut that keeps him at bay. Caio ducks and weaves through a jab-cross combo but is hit with a nasty uppercut. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Brock attempts a takedown from the clinch, but Ruas pulls a switch on him, ultimately leading to both fighters on their feet. A looping right hook from Bennett sends Caio to the mat. Brock Bennett lays into Caios thighs with some well timed kicks while Ruas is grounded. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 2 "shogun" shoots a takedown from a distance putting Brock Bennett on the ground. Brock gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. Caio Ruas tries to pull his leg out of half guard, but no luck. "shogun" slips out of half guard and into side control. Ruas lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Caio Ruas slides his knee across the body of Brock Bennett and takes full mount. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 Bennett sends Caio to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. A right hand from Ruass guard angers Brock Bennett who returns the favor with a powerful left hand. Brock passes through Caios guard into mount. Ruas gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Ruas tries to explode out the backdoor but Brock Bennett sinks in both hooks, continually landing outside strikes. Ruas falls flat to protect himself. Caio starts to wiggle out of back control, Brock lets him escape putting them both on their feet. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. "shogun" attempts to grab the plum but is kept off balance by Bennetts strikes. Bennett escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Caio Ruas parries a jab but leaves himself open for a uppercut that sends him to the canvas. Brock lays into "shoguns" thighs with some well timed kicks while Caio is grounded. Round 3 comes to a close.
