Round 1 Both fighters trade glancing shots continuing to find their respective range. "Diesel" narrowly dodges a cross from Arsenio Montoya, but falls catching him in his guard. Habibi is cut under his eye by a hard overhand from Montoya while utilizing the guard. Habibi attempts to transition to the butterfly guard but "Aldo" is too quick and takes half guard. Abdiesus lands some stiff elbows from the ground, but "Aldo" is able to take full mount. "Diesel" gives his back up trying to escape the mount. "Diesel" starts to wiggle out of back control, Arsenio Montoya lets him escape putting them both on their feet. The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. "Diesel" ducks under a loopy hoop, taking Arsenio Montoya to the mat, and his back. Round 1 is over.
Round 2 Montoya hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Habibi. Arsenio Montoya shoots a takedown from a distance putting Abdiesus Habibi on the ground. "Aldo" takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Abdiesuss guard. It doesn't pay off as Abdiesus makes his way to standing. "Diesel" parries "Aldos" jab and connect with a cross. "Aldo" connects with a series of punches forcing Abdiesus Habibi into a clinch. Abdiesus Habibi dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Arsenio standing over him. Arsenio stands over Abdiesus, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Abdiesus is able to grab an arm and pull Arsenio into his guard. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 Habibi winds up a heavy straight but is countered by a hard counter knee to the body. Both fighters begin to exchange Montoya catches Habibi with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Habibi gather himself. Habibi says he is ok and the fight continues. "Aldo" winds up a heavy straight but is countered by a hard counter knee to the body. A welt begins to form under Arsenio Montoyas eye after a strong cross-hook landed from Habibi. Arsenio is caught square on the jaw putting him to the canvas, Habibi prepares to pounce, but Arsenio gets his bearings just in time. The bell signals the end of round 3.
