Round 1 The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. Lobo hits a hook to the body and follows with a power straight that misses. A wild hook from Lobo is ducked by Sal Herring who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Herring throws a few strikes allowing him to clinch with his opponent. Sal lands a powerful uppercut in the clinch. Sal Herring is jockeying for position in the clinch. As both fighters jockey in the clinch Herring turns and reaches his arm across the waist of Lobo Tamayo grabbing the back of his thigh while grabbing behind the opposite leg with his other hand. Herring dumps Lobo Tamayo backwards over his own leg with a Sukui Nage. Herring drops to side control. Round 1 is over.
Round 2 Lobo Tamayo throws a crisp jab, but Sal slips it and moves in for the clinch. Tamayo attempts a takedown but is out leveraged and taken down himself. Sal Herring now is in dominant side mount. Herring lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Sal Herring slides his knee across the body of Lobo and takes full mount. Tamayo attempts to buck Sal off from mount but Sal keeps his base and maintains position. Herring secures his position. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 3 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. In the clinch Sal Herring grabs the arm of Lobo turns while dropping to a knee whipping him over his shoulder with a Seoi Otoshi throw. Sal Herring immediately takes side control. Lobo takes a few knees to the body while under Sal Herrings side control. Lobo Tamayo is wisely defending a kimura. Sal attempts to take it but Lobo Tamayo is having none of it, though Sal has used the chance the slide into mount. Sal secures his position. Lobo Tamayo shifts his head and hips to keep Herring off balance and unable to land strikes.Round 3 comes to a close.
