Round 1 Sal Herring dodges a jab and clinches with Swanson, delivering a knee as he does so. Sal connects with a hard punch making Hans bring him in to a tight clinch. Sal grabs the plum and pulls Swansons face into a powerful knee. Swanson throws a crisp jab, but "Red" slips it and moves in for the clinch. Herring works Hans into the cage from the clinch. Herring presses his head under Swansons chin so he cannot defend the piston shots from either side. Hans Swanson goes for a hip throw of his own, but Sal is able to counter it, sending Hans Swanson to the ground. Sal lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Sal Herring slides his knee across the body of Hans and takes full mount. Round 1 is finished.
Round 2 Sal Herring pressures his opponent into clinching. The fighters jockey for position in the clinch. Hans Swanson escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Hans lands a double jab. Hans Swanson connects with numerous jabs to the face of Sal Herring. A welt begins to form under Sals eye after a strong cross-hook landed from Swanson. Hans connects with a hard jab as Sal Herring attempts a wide outside hook. Herring misses an uppercut and is knocked out by a cross from Swanson.
