Round 1
Alvarez Vega starts to put on the pressure, forcing "The Mariner" back into the cage. Alvarez Vega takes advantage and clinches. The fighters jockey for position in the clinch. Alvarez Vega takes the back of Rodgers who works for a kimura. Alvarez Vega pulls his arm out of the hold and push Rodgers away. Round 2
Alvarez Vega takes in a well composed combination of quick strikes from Rusty. Rusty Rodgers connects with numerous jabs to the face of Alvarez. Rusty dodges a jab-cross combo from Alvarez Vega and connects with a front snap kick, sending Alvarez Vega stumbling backwards. Rusty Rodgers attempts to clinch, but Alvarez connects with an uppercut to the jaw. Vega dodges a series of strikes from "The Mariner" and counters with a body shot and cross. Vega then backs up and wags a finger at "The Mariner". Vega lands a strong outside leg kick that buckles "The Mariner". Alvarez connects with a right that puts Rodgers off balance tumbling to the mat, as Alvarez towers over him. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.

Round 3
Rusty Rodgers lands a devastating overhand right on Alvarez. "The Mariner" connects with a hard punch making Alvarez Vega bring him in to a tight clinch. Alvarez drops down and thrusts forward with a textbook double leg takedown. Rusty backs out of the guard after some unsuccessful motions and both fighters are standing. Rusty throws a few jabs at Alvarez Vega that miss the mark. Rusty Rodgers blocks a strong high kick from Alvarez and counters with a devastating left hook. Rodgers weaves through a jab-cross combo from Alvarez Vega but is met with a powerful uppercut that knocks him to the floor. The round comes to an end.
