Round 1 Denvon Nzama connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. "The Hound" hits a hard jab but misses with the follow up straight. Marcus throws a hard jab but Nzama throws a cross right over the top rocking Marcus. Nzama takes a punch to the jaw. He drops his hands and asks Marcus to hit him harder. Hermansen takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. Hermansen grabs a single leg and pushes Nzama to the fence. Both fighters are jockeying for positional control. Hermansen switches to a double leg lifting Nzama in the air and slams him down violently on his head. Nzama immediately puts Hermansen in his guard. The round comes to an end.
Round 2 Marcus Hermansen narrowly dodges a cross from Nzama, but falls catching him in his guard. Marcus is caught in a can opener and opens his guard. He lands two quick strikes but Denvon transitions to half guard. Denvon is able to slip into mount from the half guard. Marcus Hermansen shifts his head and hips to keep Denvon Nzama off balance and unable to land strikes. Marcus gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Hermansen carefully protects himself from Denvons strikes. Denvon Nzama begins to look for a rear naked choke, but Marcus rolls to being mounted instead. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 Hermansen lands a double jab. Denvon Nzama grabs a single leg and pushes Hermansen to the fence. Both fighters are jockeying for positional control. Denvon Nzama switches to a double leg but Hermansen does a good job of keeping his base. Marcus Hermansen stomps the feet of Nzama. Nzama works to Hermansens back while standing. Nzama throws a couple of outside shots until Marcus is able to work his way back to the clinch. Denvon Nzama receieves numerous knees to the thighs from Marcus Hermansen. Denvon Nzama presses Hermansen into the cage and is able to pick a single leg. He then pulls Hermansen out towards the center of the ring and completes the takedown, gaining half guard.Round 3 comes to a close.
