Round 1 The fighters advance and touch gloves. Bruce Epple connects with a strong body shot combo. Santiago connects with a strong body shot combo. Bruce Epple slides in for a leg lock but "Dead Shot" is too strong and cant be taken down. "Dead Shot" bends over and lands some tough shots to the face of Bruce Epple, eventually falling into half guard. Alberto uses the planted arm of Bruce Epple to push off and get back to guard position. "Dead Shot" begins to posture on his side. Epple lands a couple of outside hooks and "Dead Shot" returns to the guard. Epple pushes down Alberto Santiagos leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Alberto Santiago defends short shots well by turning his head. Bruce Epple attempts to get a leg free and successfully moves into dominant side control. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Epple slides in and grabs a leg lock taking Alberto to the ground. Epple works for a reverse heel hook but cannot finish and opts to enter Albertos guard. Bruce Epple snatches a leg and wrenches back for an ankle lock. Alberto Santiago defends well so the lock changes to a heel hook. Bruce Epple rotates into a very tight knee bar but Alberto Santiago wiggles out to his feet. Alberto is hit with a jab and then taken down with a strong trip takedown. Bruce Epple keeps his head down in the chest of Alberto to avoid any submission attempts. Bruce Epple leans up and lands some short punches before lowering back down. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 Bruce lands a double jab. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Alberto Santiago lands multiple piston shots and short uppercuts to soften up Bruce Epple for a trip takedown. Bruce Epple is able to pull a switch mid-trip and lands in Santiagos half guard. Bruce is able to slip into mount from the half guard. "Dead Shot" shifts his head and hips to keep Bruce off balance and unable to land strikes. Round 3 is over.
