Round 1
After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Noboru works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. Pat drops some good punches while being caught in the guard. Noboru goes for a kimura from the bottom, but Cherry slips out at the last second. Cherry drops some good punches while being caught in the guard. An attempt to pull a switch is blocked by Cherry but both fighters end up on their side. Both fighters scramble to a stand up. The bell signals the end of round 1.

Round 2
After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. "Wild Weasel" gets double underhooks, and unleashes unanswered knees to the midsection. Noboru dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Pat standing over him. Pat attempts to drop a fist on Kobayashi, but misses and lands in his guard. Kobayashi begins to work the rubber guard. Noboru begins to work the rubber guard. Noboru Kobayashi connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Pat Cherry drops some good punches while being caught in the guard.Round 2 comes to a close.

Round 3
Noboru lands a strong outside leg kick but is hit with a heavy counter hook. Pat Cherry takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. Cherry gets hit with a strong punch, putting him to the mat, but he recovers just in time to give up his back. Cherry rolls back into being mounted. Cherry attempts to escape mount but has no luck. Noboru swings his leg over locking in a textbook armbar. Pat taps out.
