Round 1 Padilla stuffs a shot from Michio and lands several shots to his body. Michio attempts to pull guard but Padilla makes it to side mount. Vico lands a few stiff elbows from side control. A series of strong hammerfists forces Uesugi to try and roll toward Vico Padilla. Vico Padilla lands a devastating shovel punch that roll Uesugi to his back. Vico Padilla scrambles to his back. Michio starts to wiggle out of back control, Vico lets him escape putting them both on their feet. As Padilla presses forward Michio throws a wild spinning backfist. Padilla ducks under it and executes a double-leg to gain half guard. Vico is able to slip into mount from the half guard. Michio Uesugi gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Michio starts to wiggle out of back control, Vico lets him escape putting them both on their feet. The fighters circle each other. Vico Padilla reaches down and trips Uesugi with a beautiful ankle pick. Vico Padilla dives into side control. A series of strong hammerfists forces Michio to roll over, giving up his back. Round 1 is finished.
Round 2 Uesugi connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Vico narrowly dodges a cross from Uesugi, but falls catching him in his guard. Vico begins to posture on his side. Michio lands a couple of outside hooks and Vico returns to the guard. Michio frees a leg and moves into half guard. Michio Uesugi tries to pull his leg out of half guard, but no luck. Vico holds the head of Michio close to avoid shots. Michio slams shots to his opponents ribs and throws hard elbows to the thighs. Padilla holds the head of Uesugi close to avoid shots. Uesugi slams shots to his opponents ribs and throws hard elbows to the thighs. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 Both fighters trade glancing shots continuing to find their respective range. Uesugi connects with a series of punches forcing Padilla into a clinch. Michio Uesugi gets double underhooks, and unleashes unanswered knees to the midsection. Vico Padilla uses his under and overhook to hit a solid body toss takedown, landing in full guard. Uesugi attempts to transition to the butterfly guard but "El Ladron" is too quick and takes half guard. Uesugi is able to work a leg through from the bottom to attain full guard. Michio Uesugi attempts to lock an omoplata, but Vico Padilla is able to muscle his way back to the guard. Uesugi backs out of the guard after some unsuccessful motions and both fighters are standing. Michio connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Padilla hits an uppercut to the head of Uesugi followed by a hard hook. Round 3 is over.
