Round 1
Ihara connects with a strong body shot combo. McConomy fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing "Cro Magnon" to the cage. "Cro Magnon" swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. A right hand from "Cro Magnons" guard angers McConomy who returns the favor with a powerful left hand. A kimura attempt from Ihara is countered by a punch from McConomy, who then transitions to half guard. McConomy tries to pull his leg out of half guard, but no luck. Sam McConomy slams his knee into Akira Iharas ribs. "Filipino Prodigy" is able to slip into mount from the half guard. The round comes to an end.

Round 2
After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Ihara works to Sams back while standing. Ihara throws a couple of outside shots until Sam McConomy is able to work his way back to the clinch. "Filipino Prodigy" is in the clinch with Akira, and changes levels for a beautiful double leg takedown. McConomy is pulled close and is hit with a couple of strong heel strikes to the back. Ihara locks a triangle but Sam McConomy defends well. Ihara decides to let go of the hold. Akira grabs the arm of McConomy while in guard and holds tight eating shots to ribs. Akira gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. Round 2 comes to a close.

Round 3
Ihara is caught with a double leg takedown, forcing him to give side control. Sam slides his knee across the body of Akira Ihara and takes full mount. "Filipino Prodigy" executes a double hand slap to the ears of Akira. Sam McConomy telegraphs his motions for an armbar, but Ihara gives up his back to stop the attempt. Akira Ihara carefully protects himself from "Filipino Prodigys" strikes. Sam McConomy locks in a body triangle as he takes shots at Akira. The bell signals the end of round 3.
