Round 1 Marchand is staggered by a jab to the chin. Shannon Wood gets hit with a strong punch, putting him to the mat, but he recovers just in time to give up his back. Yves Marchand takes advantage and clinches. A knee to the midsection by Marchand is seamlessly followed by a large wheel throw that puts Shannon Wood under Marchands side mount. Round 2 Yves throws a few strikes allowing him to clinch with his opponent. Shannon Wood attempts a takedown but is out leveraged and taken down himself. Yves now is in dominant side mount. Yves Marchand lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Shannon Wood is wisely defending a kimura. Marchand attempts to take it but Shannon Wood is having none of it, though Marchand has used the chance the slide into mount. Shannon Wood lands a good elbow as Yves Marchand lowers his torso. Yves postures up and begins to fire off rapid shots from mount but Shannon tripods up and sweeps him over to his back. Shannon quickly gets himself to mount. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 Wood throws a hard leg kick but is checked by Yves Marchand. Yves connects with a hard punch making Shannon bring him in to a tight clinch. While in the clinch Shannon Wood attempts a knee to the leg of Yves but is quickly tossed to the ground with a Kouchi Gaeshi technique. Shannon Wood scrambles right back to the feet. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Yves places a few punches to the ribs while tied up. A rising hip toss puts Shannon under Yves Marchands side control.
