Round 1 Maaz Nejem offers a glove touch, Gene Reese shakes their head and advances. The fighters circle each other. Maaz shoots a takedown from a distance putting Gene Reese on the ground. Maaz takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Gene Reeses guard. It doesn\'t pay off as Reese makes his way to standing. Nejem snaps back the head of Gene with a stiff jab. Maaz Nejem fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Gene. Reese dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Maaz standing over him. Maaz stands over Gene Reese, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Gene Reese is able to grab an arm and pull Maaz into his guard. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 The fighters circle each other. Gene Reese pressures his opponent into clinching. Maaz works Gene Reese into the cage from the clinch. Maaz presses his head under Reeses chin so he cannot defend the piston shots from either side. Gene places a few punches to the ribs while tied up. Gene works to Maaz Nejems back while standing. Gene throws a couple of outside shots until Maaz Nejem is able to work his way back to the clinch. In the clinch Maaz Nejem attempts a side knee to the body but Gene Reese is too quick and whips his leg in front of the knee leading into an Uchi Mata Sukashi throw from brilliant momentum awareness. Gene Reese drops into side control. Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 Gene hits a hard jab but misses with the follow up straight. Maaz Nejem eats a strong cross as Gene moves into the clinch. Maaz Nejem takes Reeses back standing, but Gene Reese isolates an arm and locks a spinning kimura but Maaz Nejem squirms out and both fighters end up standing. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Gene Reese lands a powerful uppercut in the clinch. Reese traps the arm of Maaz in his armpit while dropping to the ground with a foot sweep. Reese applies pressure to the elbow but Maaz quickly transitions out with a scramble to the feet. Gene connects with a hard punch and dives in mounting Nejem. Round 3 comes to a close.
