This idea has been thrown around for awhile now and it's something that is easy to implement. An auto scheduler will cause title fights to run automatically every reset so no shots will be missed, given to the wrong contender, etc. There will be a period where you are able to set your styles for upcoming title fights similar to how tournaments function now. If you aren't around to set your styles the fight will still happen.

This will effectively put an end to all title fight drama by creating standardized criteria for selecting #1 contenders.

The only thing that needs to be figured out is what that criteria will be and that's where all of you come in.

Most of us use the same title defense criteria already but there are always outliers/non-forum coaches and coaches who differ slightly from each other in their approach so we need to come to an agreement on how the auto scheduler should decide title shots.

Here is an example of what I mean. We could use this or create a new version of it:

1. Longest streak in current org. (with an increase of fighters sitting on streaks, obvious sitters will be skipped)
2. Previous reset not missed.
3. Who has less resets missed in current streak.
4. Who has beaten more unique fighters in current streak.
5. Who has more wins in current weight division within streak.
6. Who has highest avg rank of opponents beat in streak.
7. Who is ranked higher.

Other Cases
- if #1 contender has not accepted shot with 1hr-30min left in reset, next available contender will be sent title shot as well.
- if shot is still not accepted with <30min left, shot will be sent to all available fighters
- if I miss a reset as champ, the following reset will still follow above criteria to avoid inconsistency (if someone puts me on their blacklist cause of this I don't really care, probably missed the reset cause of life)

Basically every reset is a fresh start and I will start from the beginning of my defense criteria for title shots.

Post what you would like to see and let's get this hashed out.

Thanks for putting this together LCM - I think its a great start.

I'm trying to simplify it since the simpler the algorithm the easier to code and hopefully the quicker it can be implemented. More transparent as well as to what is needed to earn a title shot.

1. Longest streak in current org
2. Least resets missed since streak began
3. Who has the highest avg rank of opponents beat in a streak
4. Who is ranked higher

6 needs to be moved up for sure.Thats pretty high on most players lists when it comes to title shots given.

Fighting in a different division to make sure to get a decent high ranked opponent should help a streak as well. Some weights have lesser fighters. I dont see an issue getting a win within a streak from a different weight class if it helps better a streak .Id rather see that then fighting bottom of the division. It would also help with 4 when a coach is fighting tougher fighters even if it is out of the division.

This seems to be how most of us approach title shots:

*Next criteria will only be looked at if there is a tie in current criteria.
1. Longest streak in current org.
2. Previous reset not missed.
3. Who has highest avg rank of opponents beat in streak.

Nice and easy.

I can get behind that, but we would have to come up with a full list for all cases.

Example: Even though they are rare, they can happen.Only a couple fighters have wins within the org and same # of wins and even averages with btoh fighting the exact same fighters in different resets. How would we figure that out?

And in the extraordinarily rare circumstance where two fighters are tied at #3 with the same avg rank of opponents you could throw this in as #4 since it's impossible for two fighters to have the same rank: Who is ranked higher?

I just noticed Phil's post and it's essentially the same thing.

I like this, but with them having to have fought the previous reset.

This. 4 would be higher rank to break any ties after the first 3 criteria. Also if the longer streak had not fought last reset then he is out right there so maybe switch 1 and 2
